As we watch Ridley Scott’s depiction of life in Los Angeles in 2019, we need to
keep in mind that the author, the two screeenwriters and the director, Ridley
Scott, were all responding to the social, cultural and historical concerns of
the 1960s and 1970s. Their bleak visioin of the future depicts the chaos which
would result from the combined effect of nuclear disaster, ecological
destruction and over-population.’
